Start/Sit Pitchers – Fantasy Baseball Matchups for Week 2

And just like that, we’re entering the second week! We’re back in the swing of the fantasy baseball season, and we expect to start seeing more full pitch counts very soon.

For those unfamiliar, RotoBaller offers a weekly grid of starting pitcher matchups and “start or sit” recommendations. I (Jon Anderson) picked it up for this year, and I’m excited to bring it to you throughout the season. I will say that my approach to this will be mostly conservative, you’ll see me leaning more towards “sitting” when things are close. You should always, of course, keep your league contexts in mind. Depending on how deep your league is, it will make more or less sense to start a marginal guy. My default mindset here is a league where around 350 players are registered, so keep that in mind throughout the year.

For each week of the fantasy baseball season, we’ll analyze every projected starting pitcher game for fantasy baseball and help you set optimal lineups. Below are the projections start pitcher clashes and starts/sits for Week 2 – April 18-April 25 – which will be updated as rotations continue to be announced and changed. This column will make ongoing adjustments for any rotation postponements or reshuffles, reflecting official beat writer speculation for as many unconfirmed rotation slots as possible. Let’s build those winning lineups!

Overview of start/sit data

This weekly article examines the pitcher’s opponents, their prospects against lefties and righties, some ballpark factors, and historical splits. With all of this information, we then provide our starting/seat recommendations for each starting pitcher game for the upcoming fantasy baseball week.

Each player will be rated with a Start/Sit recommendation, we are also including a “Score” column this year to display the level of confidence in that pick. Scores range from 0 to 100 in increments of five. The higher, the better! They are also color coded as you will see.

  • SG project – the number of starts that the starter is supposed to make in the scoring period of the week.
  • Score – A confidence metric, from 0 to 100 in increments of five. The higher, the better for the thrower.

This table is updated daily as likely starters constantly change with game postponements, injuries and other events.
