Start/Sit Pitchers – Fantasy Baseball Matchups for Week 5
We are in May! I hope all of your wildest dreams come true this fantasy baseball season. We’re back with another beast of a post where I give a starting/seat rating and recommendation for each SP slated to start a game this week.
Comments have been great on this post so far, and I appreciate all the comments, retweets, and upvotes! Shout out to that guy last week who questioned my recommendation to seat Adrian Houser against the Reds. He convinced me to recommend leaving, and then Houser was crushed. So whoever took my advice on this start and got burned – blame that guy on Reddit, not me!
For each week of the fantasy baseball season, we’ll analyze every projected starting pitcher game for fantasy baseball and help you set optimal lineups. Below are the projections start pitcher clashes and starts/sits for Week 5 – May 9-16 – which will be updated as rotations continue to be announced and changed. This column will make ongoing adjustments for any rotation postponements or reshuffles, reflecting official beat writer speculation for as many unconfirmed rotation slots as possible. Let’s build those winning lineups!
Editor’s note: Our incredible team of writers received five writing awards in total and 13 nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, the best in the industry! Overview of start/sit data
This weekly article examines the pitcher’s opponents, their prospects against lefties and righties, some ballpark factors, and historical splits. With all of this information, we then provide our starting/seat recommendations for each starting pitcher game for the upcoming fantasy baseball week.
Each player will be rated with a Start/Sit recommendation, we are also including a “Score” column this year to display the level of confidence in that pick. Scores range from 0 to 100 in increments of five. The higher, the better! They are also color coded as you will see.
- SG project – the number of starts that the starter is supposed to make in the scoring period of the week.
- Score – A confidence metric, from 0 to 100 in increments of five. The higher, the better for the thrower.
This table is updated daily as likely starters constantly change with game postponements, injuries and other events.
