The Fantastic Life of Poetry and Crime Video | Peter Doherty, Frédéric Lo

A newly married Peter Doherty takes us for a marvel along the Normandy coast in the video for his latest single – ‘The Fantasy Life Of Poetry & Crime’. Doherty, who lives her life between her home in Normandy and her hotel, ‘The Albion Rooms’, in Margate, recently married his longtime girlfriend and Puta Madres band member, Katia de Vidas.

The Libertines frontman didn’t announce his engagement to keyboardist Katia until a few days before the wedding ceremony, but the couple have been together for years and married life certainly seems to suit Pete. The 42-year-old hellish former breeder has been sober for two and a half years now and while he may have added a few pounds, he seems the happiest and healthiest for a while.

Doherty’s latest outing comes as the Libertines’ “Giddy Up” tour arrives in her adopted hometown of Margate. Ahead of the ‘Coming Home’ show at The Winter Gardens, Pete spoke about his new single. The single was released, “Yes it is. ‘The Fantasy Life Of Poetry & Crime’ with Peter Doherty and Frédéric Lo, yes it is, the single was released yesterday.” When the record came out, we asked him: “The record, the album? … uh, I don’t know!” he replies, a little shy.

Pete’s new solo album, new Libertines material and a new release by fellow libertine Carl Barât are in the works, but no confirmed date has yet been announced.

Pete’s latest outing, featuring French ‘Hallelujah!’ artist Frédéric Lo, has a fabulously relaxed and laconic arrangement, with a characteristic enchanting melody. This suits both Doherty’s mellow character and the accompanying black and white photography used in the video shoot.
